Bimbo Bakeries USA is a proud member of the Grupo Bimbo family of companies. Grupo Bimbo was born in 1945 in Mexico City, Mexico selling cellophane-wrapped small and large white loaf bread, rye bread and toast. The same year, Osito Bimbo was introduced as the beloved logo.
Did you know the name Bimbo is a combination of Bingo, a popular song in America at the time and the Disney movie, Bambi?

Grupo Bimbo signs a virtual power purchase agreement. The wind power produced by Invenergy's Santa Rita East wind farm produces enough power to offset 100% of Bimbo Bakeries USA's operations.

The company grew its North American operations when Grupo Bimbo purchased Mrs Baird's Bakery in Texas. The combined operations were renamed Bimbo Bakeries USA (BBU).
