At Bimbo Bakeries USA, Our Purpose - Nourishing a Better World - guides everything we do. From the foods we bake to the communities we support and the planet we protect, we remain committed to creating meaningful impact for generations to come.
Anchored by our three pillars, we’re continuing to rise together:
- Baked for You: Bring better nutrition to millions by providing more diverse nutrients in simpler recipes.
- Baked for Life: Support our associates and help our communities thrive.
- Baked for Nature: Become a zero-carbon champion.
In 2025, innovation, sustainability and community remained at the heart of our progress. From nutrition enhancements to strengthened community partnerships and award-winning sustainability leadership, this year was defined by purposeful momentum.
Here’s how our year unfolded:
Baked for You
Our story begins where it always does, with the products we bake and everyone who enjoys them. In 2025, we continued to elevate every eating occasion.
We made major strides this year:
- Cleaner recipes became a reality, with our portfolio now free of Red 3 and all artificial dye colors across the business on track to be eliminated by the end of 2026. Today, 100% of our bread, buns, rolls and breakfast items are free from dye colors and artificial flavors.
- Positive nutrition took center stage, with our entire bread, buns and breakfast portfolio achieving a 3.5 or higher Health Star Rating, reflecting balanced nutrition across all leading brands.
*Health Star Rating: is a nutritional profiling system created by the Australian government together with the food industry and public health groups. It aims to assess the overall nutritional quality of packaged foods using a standardized, government-supported method. The system assigns a rating from 1/2 to 5 stars based on the nutritional profile of the product within its category. A rating of 3.5 or more indicates that the product has an optimal and balanced nutritional quality.
- We continued advancing breakfast, a cherished ritual for many, by introducing Thomas’® High Protein Bagels, Sourdough Bagels and Sourdough English Muffins, offering more variety and nutrition to start the day right.
This chapter of our journey reinforces our long-term commitment: nourishing families with better choices, every day.
Baked for Life
As we turn the page, our story focuses on the people who bring our Purpose to life: our associates and the communities where we live and work.
Every year, their impact is felt nationwide.
Through our partnership with Feeding America, our teams helped donate approximately 25 million pounds of product to local food banks, ensuring that families facing food insecurity have access to the products we proudly bake.
Our Good Neighbor program continues year after year, with associates participating in projects like rebuilding playgrounds, revitalizing parks and supporting local schools. This year, more than 35 Good Neighbor projects took place across the country - each one strengthening our ties in local communities.
In addition to our hands-on efforts, we partnered with nine key nonprofit organizations, supporting education, cultural enrichment, and health nationwide:
- Children’s Scholarship Fund of Philadelphia
- Mexican Cultural Center
- Qualitas of Life
- Philabundance
- Special Olympics
- Los Angeles Cleantech Incubator (LACI)
- 100 Black Men of the Bay Area
- Hispanic Organization Promoting Education (HOPE)
- Girls Inc.
This chapter of our story is rooted in a simple belief: when communities thrive, we all rise.
Baked for Nature
The final chapter of our year focuses on the planet we share and the responsibility we carry to protect it for generations to come.
In 2025, our bakery teams continued to strengthen our commitment to reducing environmental impact, earning industry recognition for their efforts.
We received the American Bakers Association (ABA) Champions for a Better Tomorrow Award for our carbon reduction initiatives, including renewable energy, energy optimization and low-carbon technologies.
At the International Baking Industry Exposition (IBIE) Best in Baking Awards, BBU earned Top Honors for Bakery Efficiency, recognizing our Strategic Energy Management Program now active in 21 bakeries, and was recognized in the Sustainable Packaging Innovation category for launching North America’s first bread bag made with 30% post-consumer recycled content through our Arnold® Organics line - setting a new standard for circular packaging in our industry.
Our commitment to energy efficiency also earned 18 bakeries the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) ENERGY STAR certification, placing them among the top 25% of bakeries nationwide for energy performance.
For us, sustainability isn’t just a goal, it’s a commitment we live by every day of every year.
